  1. What You Eat Is How You Sleep

Make sure you do not go to bed hungry or with a really full stomach. Avoid heavy meals in the evening because your body needs a lot of energy to burn them and this may impact your sleep. Furthermore, avoid the consumption of too much caffeine during the day – if you feel tired, swap the coffee mugs for some water and stay hydrated.

  1. Establish a “Bedtime Schedule”

What I mean is try to go to bed and wake up at around the same times each day. Once you establish routines, it is also easier to fall asleep.

  1. Phone-Free Zone

Set your alarm to 30-60 minutes before you plan to go to bed. When it goes off, turn off all your phones, tablets or other gadgets. We spend so much time in front of these things that our body really needs some rest time. Read a book instead, do some stretching or other relaxing activities that distract you from all the things during the day. Make sure your gadgets are off or on silent so that nobody can interrupt your sleep.

  1. Exercise

Obvious but true. If you exercise regularly, your body will naturally be tired in the evening and your sleep will improve. I never believed this myself but once I started exercising, I slept so much better. If you are too busy to exercise every day, try to walk as much as possible – this might not substitute a long workout session but helps you build up more energy and get some rest.

  1. Create a Calm Place

A peaceful place is very important to be able to get a good night’s sleep. Try not to fall asleep while listening to music or watching TV.
