Happy Monday, everyone! 

It can be tough to start the week after a really nice weekend. When the alarm goes off in the morning, we wish it could still be Saturday. I have to say, I do have this feeling too. But being a morning person, I try to start my day as positively as possible, because this will set the tone for the whole day – and on Monday for the whole week. You might think now “Oh no, she is going to tell me to wake up every morning at 4.30, meditate, go for a run, eat a healthy breakfast and be at the office by 7.30”. Do not worry, I won’t. I would like to share my simple tricks to help you rise and shine in the morning.

1. Establish a Sleep Schedule and a Routine

It is very important that you establish a sleeping routine. Try to go to bed and wake up at roughly the same time every day. As I wake up at 6am, I try to go to bed by 10pm at the latest, because I know that I need my 8 hours of sleep. Check out my blog post about getting better sleep.

2. Prepare Clothes in Advance

Before I go to bed, I go through the next day, check the weather forecast and plan my outfit accordingly. For me, this is a big factor to reduce stress in the morning (I can get really grumpy if I do not find the perfect outfit immediately). Furthermore, I pack my bags with all the things I need for the day and all my meetings.

3. Mental Trigger

Before falling asleep, tell yourself what you want to achieve the next day before you go to sleep. If I plan to work out the next morning, I tell myself “Tomorrow, I will wake up and work out before I go to work.” It really helps me to wake up the next morning and overcome this lack of motivation we often have. The workout is then already “planned” into my day and I do not even question it. This trigger works for many other things as well.

4. Set a Nice Alarm

There is nothing worse than being woken up by an annoying ringtone. I change the sound of my alarm to my favourite song to give me some positive vibes.

5. Have Things to Look Forward to in the Morning

It is the little things that can contribute a lot to a positive vibe in the morning. For example, I got this really cute mug for my morning coffee. Every day when I have my coffee, I immediately think it will be a good day because I used this mug. Furthermore, looking forward to taking some time together with your family for breakfast is also something you can look forward to every morning.
